The Cancer Survival Toolbox®

The Cancer Survival Toolbox® is a free, award-winning audio program that teaches skills that can help people with cancer meet the challenges of their illness. The Toolbox includes a Basic Skills set that covers six important topics: communicating, finding information, making decisions, solving problems, negotiating and standing up for your rights. In addition, the Toolbox includes four additional programs that cover topics for older persons, finding ways to pay for care, caring for the caregiver, and living beyond cancer.

While the Cancer Survival Toolbox® has been designed to assist those who have been recently diagnosed with cancer, it can also help anyone facing hard decisions and changes in life because of cancer.

The Cancer Survival Toolbox® is available free to anyone affected by cancer. To obtain a copy of the program on compact disc, visit our online order form or call 1-877-TOOLS-4U (1-877-866-5748). Click here to access the Toolbox from your computer. The Toolbox is also available as a free podcast on iTunes.

In addition to the audio program, you can read the transcripts in English, Spanish, and Chinese by clicking here.

Many organizations and groups across the country have conducted their own programs based on the Cancer Survival Toolbox®. Click here to read and download the Facilitator’s Manual that offers suggestions on how to plan group programs and provides helpful tools such as agendas, exercises and presentations.

The Cancer Survival Toolbox® is produced by the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, the Oncology Nursing Society, the Association of Oncology Social Work, and the National Association of Social Workers.
