Survivors Speak at Congressional Briefing

Cancer survivors and medical experts from around the country gathered in Washington, D.C. on July 22 to educate policy makers on the necessity of having written care plans and treatment summaries in order to receive quality cancer care.  Speaking at a congressional briefing, the group urged passage of The Comprehensive Cancer Care Improvement Act, a proposal that would provide Medicare reimbursement to physicians for creating written plans before and after a person's cancer treatment along with a follow-up plan for future care.

Cosponsors of the briefing included the Lance Armstrong Foundation, American Cancer Society, Komen for the Cure, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
