In a special to the Washington Post, "Tomorrow's Pain Will Come Soon Enough," June 30, 2009, a New York clinical psychologist and cancer survivor describes her psychological experience with cancer and the realization that "mindfulness" - or the ability to focus one's awareness on the present moment - is a useful tool.

At NCCS, we know that cancer takes a psychological toll on the person diagnosed as well as their caregivers and loved ones. We provide resources that address these specific issues such as as the free Cancer Survival Toolbox and the publication, You Have the Right to be Hopeful.
