NCCS is pleased to announce its involvement in a holiday entertainment variety special hosted by cancer survivors Scott Hamilton and Dorothy Hamill and featuring Olympic skating champions and special musical artists including David Archuleta and Gloria Gaynor. The show was produced in front of an audience that included an estimated 15,000 survivors.
On Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 4:30-6:00 PM EST a FOX Holiday television special called “Kaleidoscope on Ice” returns this year and reminds viewers that the holidays are a time to be grateful for the many developments in the battle against cancer and for all those who fight that battle each day as survivors, caregivers, and advocates. The 90 minute special will feature the return of cancer survivors and American skating icons, Scott Hamilton and Dorothy Hamill as hosts and celebrates the thousands of cancer survivors in attendance with a wonderful musical performance of “I Will Survive,” by Gloria Gaynor and a number of beautiful skating performances by legendary skaters such as Olympic Gold Medalist Sarah Hughes; Three-Time U.S. Champion Johnny Weir; Olympic Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen; Four-Time World Champion Kurt Browning; Olympic Bronze Medalist Joannie Rochette; Olympic Silver Medalist Paul Wylie; Two-Time US Champion Kimmie Meissner; Two-Time US Champions Rena Inoue & John Baldwin; Five-Time European Champion Surya Bonaly, and music from American Idol runner-up David Archuleta.
A number of leading cancer advocacy groups and professional associations have partnered to create an education and awareness platform around cancer survivorship. It is our goal that “Kaleidoscope on Ice” will do more than simply entertain our television audience. By pairing awareness and education with the talent and beauty of champion ice skaters and musical performers, Kaleidoscope will celebrate cancer survivorship and inspire both those dealing with cancer and those who want to do more to fight it. Kaleidoscope pays tribute to the millions of Americans who are surviving this disease, while serving as a vehicle to educate our audience about cancer, and the unique challenges that face survivors.
“Kaleidoscope on Ice” airs on Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 4:30-6:00 PM EST on FOX following the NFL game.
