Internship Opportunities

 

Online Community Intern

NCCS currently has an opening for an unpaid intern to develop, manage, and grow our online community outreach.  The intern will build NCCS's presence in various social networking communities while exploring other connectivity networks in order to expand the organization's membership base and increase awareness.  Candidates should have knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies and trends (blogs, RSS, video sharing technology, tags, etc.) and familiarity with online social networking.  The intern will work 15-20 hours per week with a flexible schedule and start/end dates.

Responsibilities

  • Research emerging social networking websites
  • Develop outreach strategies using social networks, such as Myspace, Facebook, Change.org, Care2, Flickr, etc., to connect with our target audience as well as other non-profit organizations
  • Design and maintain social network profiles
  • Identify new methods of online constituent involvement
  • Maintain and update online resources
  • Moderate blog and/or message boards
  • Develop recommendations for blog and/or message board topics
  • Create user-friendly experience for NCCS members who log into the website
  • Contribute web content
  • Identify new technology uses and develop recommendations for incorporating them into outreach and communication efforts

 

Qualifications

  • College student or recent graduate
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written, oral and communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Web 2.0 skills, enthusiasm and involvement with online social networking and open source communities
  • Research and editing skills
  • Ability to think creatively and "outside of the box"
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills
