Letter from the President

Thomas P. Sellers
President & CEO
10-Year Cancer Survivor

At the moment you are diagnosed with cancer, you become a survivor. You join more than 12 million others who have heard the words, “You have cancer.” At that moment, the family members, friends, and caregivers who play a precious role in a person’s cancer journey also become survivors, sharing the burden that cancer places on millions of families across this nation and around the world.

We understand. We understand that cancer is more than a physical disease; it affects your emotions, your relationships, your spirituality, your finances, your employment, and much, much more.

We’ve been there, and we’re here to help you address the issues that so many cancer survivors face. Founded in 1986 by and for people with cancer and those who care for them, the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) works everyday with families, caregivers, and communities as well as your representatives in Congress, the Administration, and other policymakers to help ease that burden.

NCCS is the oldest survivor-led advocacy organization representing survivors of all types of cancer and their families. We recognize that all of us are a part of what NCCS calls survivorship. Survivorship is the experience of living with, through, and beyond a diagnosis of cancer. We share the same vision — that if you or a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, you will have access to the best quality care.

Please join us.
