Letter from the President

bouts with cancer

Everyday 3,835 people in America hear a doctor say, "You have cancer." Those are frightening, life-altering words. There is hope.

At the moment you hear those words, you become a survivor. You join more than 10 million others who have heard those very words and who are surviving. At that moment, your family, friends and caregivers also become survivors, sharing the burden that cancer places on millions of families across this nation and around the world.

We understand. We’ve been there. Founded in 1986 by and for people with cancer and those who care for them, the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) works everyday with families, caregivers, and communities as well as your representatives in Congress, the Administration, and other policymakers to help ease that burden.

NCCS is the oldest survivor-led advocacy organization representing survivors of all types of cancer and their families. We recognize that all of us are a part of what NCCS calls survivorship. Survivorship is the experience of living with, through, and beyond a diagnosis of cancer. We share the same vision — that if you or a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, you will have access to the best quality care.

Please join us.
