Communications Manager
The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) has an opening for a Communications Manager who is responsible for promoting the NCCS mission through written communication and other forms of outreach to various constituencies, including cancer survivors and their loved ones, policy makers, news media and health care practitioners.
The Communications Manager works closely with other areas of NCCS outreach – such as policy, grassroots, development and programs – to ensure consistent messaging in written materials and presentations. Duties include serving as primary manager of written materials intended for public education; designing and managing strategic communications to general and trade news media; serving as primary media contact; preparing and disseminating news releases; managing and administering the organization’s newsletter, annual report and other forms of written outreach to NCCS constituents; coordinating NCCS participation in other organization’s conferences (ie, exhibiting, educational sessions); and managing communications aspects of NCCS’s programmatic partnerships with other organizations.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years experience in communication-related work for a consumer-focused health care organization, public relations firm, advocacy group, legislative office or government agency. Must be team-oriented, have outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
